Find Out What It Takes to Run for Elected Office at the Orange Chamber Candidates Academy
The Orange Chamber of Commerce will be offering Chamber members and the public the opportunity to find out how to run for elected office during the upcoming Candidates Academy.
Whether you want to run or just work on a campaign, the Candidates Academy is for you! The Chamber will be holding a Candidates Academy on Monday, September 26, 2011,beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Orange Main Library Conference Room located at 407 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange.
Speakers for the event will be Bill Steiner, former County Supervisor; Orange City Clerk, Mary E. Murphy; and Michael W. Suydam, 21st Century Communications Strategies, LLC. Topics covered will be legal requirements, the risks and rewards of running for office, and communication tips on how to run an effective campaign.
Business people are especially encouraged to attend, said Heidi LarkinReed, President/CEO of the Orange Chamber of Commerce. People who know how to run a business have the experience needed for public office in this tough economy.
