Classic looks transcend time, and nothing proves that point more than Jessica Rey’s exquisite line of swimsuits inspired by the vintage looks of the ’40s and ’50s.

An actress who also holds a master’s degree in business from Loyola Marymount, Jessica launched Rey Swimwear three years ago online, and has recently acquired a space at 131 South Glassell in Old Towne where her office/studio is now based.

Jessica’s penchant for classic suits began when she didn’t want to wear tiny bikinis anymore. Admiring the styles of Audrey Hepburn, Jessica searched for authentic vintage suits to wear, but couldn’t find one that fit. As luck would have it, her roommate at the time was a fashion student. Jessica designed a suit and her roommate sewed it. The rest is history.

“I never thought I’d use my business degree, but here I am,” said Jessica, who got into acting when she was working on her MBA, and has continued a successful career ever since – with roles on everything from “Days of Our Lives” and the “Power Rangers” to “Rules of Engagement,” “Las Vegas” and “General Hospital,” to name a few.

In fact, it was on “General Hospital” that Jessica wore one of her own swimsuits in a scene that took place in Cancun.

Veteran actress and swimsuit designer Jessica Rey combines her love of classic styles with an acumen in business. Jessica’s many acting credits include “General Hospital,” “Rules of Engagement,” “Las Vegas” and the “Power Rangers.”

“I played the character of Marita, who was the love interest of Sonny Corinthos’ son, Michael,” Jessica said. “When wardrobe called me for the fittings, they asked me to bring a bikini. I told them that I don’t wear bikinis, but that I happen to design my own line of suits. The stylist liked them so much, she actually bought one of my suits.”

Growing up in Anaheim Hills, Jessica was always drawn to Old Towne Orange. After she and her husband married, they found a home in Old Towne and settled here.

For the vintage–inspired swimsuit designer, living and working in Old Towne is the perfect fit.

“I enjoy walking to the Plaza and talking to my neighbors and friends. I’ve always loved Old Towne; it really feels like home.”
