Dentist Jay Kwon, DMD, has a lot to smile about now that hes taken over OC Smile Factory at 245 North Glassell.
Purchasing the practice in February, Dr. Kwon specializes in cosmetic dentistry, helping to improve patients smiles and aesthetics. The new name of the practice is Glassell Dental.
Located near the Filling Station within walking distance of Chapman University, Glassell Dental occupies a vintage home artfully renovated by the previous occupants, dentists Stan and Amelia Coe.
Its a very homey feeling, said Dr. Kwon. When people come here, they immediately feel a sense of comfort.
In his general practice, Dr. Kwon caters to a variety of patients, from geriatric to pediatric. Because of the proximity to Chapman University, he now offers special discounted rates to area students.
People have been very friendly since Ive arrived, he said. Ive been walking the Plaza getting to know my neighbors. Everyone is very welcoming, receptive and friendly.
Dr. Kwon is joined by his dental assistant, Katherine Peralta, and his front office administrator, Natra, who previously worked for the former owner of the building, Dr. Soto.
Specializing in restorative work, Dr. Kwon handles everything from gum treatments to dental implants. If by chance a case is particularly complicated, he will bring in a specialist. A graduate of Boston University, Dr. Kwon has practiced dentistry since 2007.
Although commuting every day from his home in Glendale has been a challenge, Dr. Kwon says hes enjoyed getting the new practice up and running. Eventually, he plans to relocate closer to Orange.
Ive never seen a town like this anywhere in L.A., he said. Old Towne is a lovely, walkable community and a nice, closely-knit neighborhood. Its become like a second home to me, and Im starting to settle in really nicely.
