The March 22 City of Orange State of the City Selling Out Fast!

Seats are going fast for Carolyn Cavecche’s last State of the City. At the event, Mayor of Orange will be presenting her last State of the City address – highlighting the recent developments and new programs in Orange, and Laurie Weidner, Chairman of the Board for the Orange Chamber of Commerce, will present State of the Chamber address.

“We selling out fast!,” said Heidi Larkin-Reed, President/CEO of the Orange Chamber of Commerce. “We max out at 400 and already we have reservations for over 200 people. I am encouraging those who want to attend, sign up today by contacting the Orange Chamber of Commerce.”

The State of the City is presented by the Orange Chamber of Commerce and will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel, 100 The City Drive, Orange, CA. Over 400 business and community leaders attend this annual event. The Presenting Sponsor for the event is Children’s Hospital of Orange County celebrating their new facility in Orange.

“This is an outstanding event for the business community to attend and hear about the opportunities and growth areas in our city,” said Heidi Larkin-Reed, President/CEO of the Orange Chamber of Commerce.

The Master of Ceremonies will be William G. Steiner. Bill Steiner is a former member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. He has served as a Orange City Council member and as Executive Director of the Orangewood Children’s Foundation. Orange Chamber of Commerce Board Member Phil Hummel is Chair of the event.

As part of the event, a long standing tradition in Orange is to select the Chamber’s Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year.

The Citizen of the Year tradition began in 1959 and is designed to recognize those who have given their time and talent on a volunteer bases to serve the community of Orange. Last year’s winners, Mark Murphy are chairing this year’s committee, which has begun the process of selecting the winner. Applications have been sent out to area non-profits so they can select their nominee. Deadline to submit is February 10.

“The Business of the Year” has expanded to include the Legacy Award, which is a way we recognize business who have been in Orange for 50 years or more, said Heidi Larkin-Reed. “We will be working with the City as a joint effort to select two outstanding businesses.”
