Rush Will Be On as Parents Help Their Students Move in to Campus Residence Halls Chapman’s

Details: More than 1,270 freshmen and new students will participate in Campus Move-In Day - moving into their dorm rooms in Chapman University’s residence hall complex this Tuesday, August 21, launching Orientation Week on campus. Students and their family members will be moving cartloads of furniture, bedding, lamps, mini-refrigerators, computers and other electronics - all the amenities of today’s campus life - into their rooms starting early in the morning, in a picturesque and harried rush that is expected to begin around 7 am and last most of the day.

Orientation Week will continue on Wednesday, August 22 with Chapman University’s traditional opening of the academic year, the Opening Convocation at 9 am, which will feature a bagpipe-led processional of robed faculty members and a program that will include remarks by Chapman President Jim Doti; a tribute to the late and beloved professor of religious studies and world expert on Gnostic texts, Dr. Marvin Meyer, who passed away suddenly last Thursday; and the annual “Aims of Education” address to new students, this year presented by Tom Campbell, dean of the Chapman University School of Law.
