When Jack and Jan Snyder opened Auto Care Plus 23 years ago, little did they know they would end up doing business in Orange for more than 40 years — and counting.

Raised in the local area, Jack and Jan began dating when they were 16, graduated the same year from Villa Park and Marywood high schools respectively and then married when they turned 21. Since 1966, Jack’s parents operated small businesses in Orange before opening the Unocal station at Chapman and Tustin beginning in 1971. In 1976, they relocated to Katella and Glassell, where Jack joined his father in automotive repair.

When Jack’s father retired, Jack and Jan decided to open a garage on Main Street called Auto Care Plus. Two years ago, they relocated to 1432 North Glassell, serving a roster of satisfied customers who appreciate “fair prices, honest answers and quality work.”

With a veteran team of mechanics, including their son, Jack Jr., the Snyders pride themselves on providing personalized customer service to everyone they meet.

“I like to take care of a customer’s car as though it is my own car,” says Jack, who runs the garage and handles diagnostics and repairs while Jan takes care of administrative duties and customer relations. “We have a lot of repeat customers and commercial accounts. Developing personal and trusted relationships with our customers is very important to us.”

An official smog check and NAPA Auto Care Center, Auto Care Plus does everything from heating and air conditioning to electrical system repair, engine replacement, steering and suspension, and just about every type of service for domestic, European and foreign vehicles. They even have a nitrogen-filling station for tire inflation that adds fuel savings and longer tire life.

With the help of Jack Jr., the Snyders have made Auto Care Plus a third-generation business.

“It’s great to be in Orange; there’s no other place I’d rather be,” says Jack. “We plan on keeping the business going when our son eventually takes it over. We’ll be in town for a long time.”

On Tuesday, March 25, the public is invited to an open house/BBQ at Auto Care Plus from 10 am to 3 pm. The event will include a raffle, coupons, giveaways, product demonstrations and more.
